What Are Skin Allergies
Skin allergies is a phenomenon in which the person experiences itching or irritation on the skin. There are many causes of these skin allergies and food allergy is one among them. This article will explain about the various foods that can cause allergies to the skin.
The most common cause for food allergies is because of a low immune system. The immune system is warring with certain properties of food that you consume. One of the most common food allergies is caused by protein. It is noted that most of the people experiencing skin allergies is due to protein. Thus, foods like sea food, eggs, peanuts and other types of nuts are known to be allergens. This is because; these foods have high levels of protein content in them.
The allergy is caused for a specific reason which most of us do not understand. The immune system of our body does not recognize the property of protein present in these foods. Thus, when you consume these foods, the immune system starts to fight against this property. The immune system cannot break down the protein through normal means and thus, makes use of certain chemicals to aid in the process. These chemicals cause the skin allergies that we experience.
One type of skin allergy is hives. These are red bumps that are formed on the top layers of the skin. In the initial stages, they appear in a small area. However, if immediate measures are not taken, they tend to spread over a larger surface. The hives are itchy by nature and can result in the person wanting to scratch the hives badly.
There are many treatments for the skin allergies. One product which will help is the hydrocortisone. Hydrocortisone is an element which has certain properties which reduce or remove itchiness and the soreness caused by the allergy at a faster pace. Due to this property, it is used for most of the medicines made for skin allergies. However, there are a few things that you should not do while you have the skin allergies. The first thing to remember is to prevent the use of any skin creams or lotions which you usually do. This can cause adverse affects on the skin by increasing the itchiness.
Proper treatment should be taken to cure such skin allergies. If the condition becomes beyond control, one must visit the dermatologist rather than keep figting it on your own. Thus, you should make sure that you do not take any steps of your own to reduce the effect of skin allergies or the hives that are cause on your skin.
