A good pair of shoes literally keeps you going. Shoes are very important in terms of preventing injuries and also provide a comfort while doing various activities. Now days, shoes are used as the item of fashion and it is more a style statement. The design of shoes has varied extremely through time and from culture to culture. Moreover fashion has often brought many changes in the style, whether shoes have very high heels or flat ones. Contemporary footwear varies extensively in style, complexity and prize. Basic sandals may consist of only a simple sole and a strap. High fashion shoes may be made of very expensive materials like leather and sell for thousands of dollars a pair. There are shoes available for specific purposes, such as boots specially designed for mountaineering or skiing.

They have laces which are tied to two pieces of leather independently attached to the vamp. They are also known as “open lacing”. .Monk-straps shoes have a buckle and strap instead of lacing. Slip-ons: There are no lacings or fastenings. The popular loafers are part of this category. Plain-toes: have a sleek appearance and no extra decorations on the vamp. Cap-toes: has an extra layer of leather that “caps” the toe. This is possibly the most popular style. Brogues: The toe of the shoe is covered with a perforated panel, the wing-tip, which extends down either side of the shoe. Brogues can be found in both balmorals and blucher styles, but are considered slightly less formal.

Court shoes, known in the US as pumps, are typically high-heeled, slip-on dress shoes.
