What are the Different Types of CompactFlash Cards
Compact Flash cards can be regarded as one of the greatest invention with respect to data storage and portability of a storing device as it helps a user to ensure that the data is stored in a safer manner without any power.
The world of technology is very dynamic and full of surprises everyday. The past saw the technology which can store data on an external disk in form of the floppy disk and now with evolution of techno and science the world has also witnessed the arrival of the Compact Flash cards. The cards are also otherwise known as CF cards which have the potential to store more information and data than in comparison with the floppy disks along with being more rigid and tough in use.
CF cards are very smaller and thinner as compared to the floppy disks and are capable of functioning more efficiently than the floppy disk. The category of CF cards is divided into two categories which are in form of Type I and Type II cards. On the basis of external appearance, the Type I is 11/16 inches wide whereas on the other hand, the Type II is 7/16 inches wide. Now coming on to the basis of storage capacity, the Type I CF cards can store from 512 MB of data to 8 GB, on the other hand, the Type II FC cards can store from 512 MB to 64 GB which is perhaps 56 GB more than the Type I.
The technology section of the CF cards is very interesting though as Type I CF cards uses flash memory in order to store the data. Flash memory is regarded as one of the best modes of storing data as it does not requires any kind of power to store data. Even if there is no power, the data is saved in the CF card, which is very unlike the earlier edition of data storage devices in form of Floppy disks. On the other hand, the Type II CF card uses the technology of moving parts while storing data. However, on the basis of power, the Type I CF card is regarded to be more efficient than in case of Type II as it consumes lesser energy than the Type II CF card.
The arrival of CF cards has not only made the world of technology more useful for the mass but has also developed a better form of storage device which performs on a larger scale on the basis of function.
