What Cause Hand Tingling
Tingling is a feeling of prickling or abnormal sensations which can be caused in any part of the body. It is also called Paresthesias in medical terms. But usually it occurs in hands, feet, arms and legs. Hand tingling is called hand paresthesias in medical terms. Hand tingling is usually caused:
Due to staying in one position for a long time Due to an injury Due to blood circulation problem Medical conditions like multiple sclerosis can also cause tingling in hands. It can be due to nerve damage due to cold or heat and this nerve damage is called peripheral neuropathy. Diabetes can also be one of the common reason of hand tingling. Carpel tunnel syndrome that is tingling in thumb, index, middle and half of ring finger. Systematic diseases like kidney problems, liver problems, blood diseases, hormonal imbalances, cancer and tumors can also be causes of hand tingling. Vitamin deficiencies like deficiency of vitamin E, B1, B6, B12, sodium, potassium and calcium can also cause tingling in hands. Consumption of alcohol, tobacco is a common cause for hand tingling. It can also cause nerve damage which is called alcoholic neuropathy. Poor diet can also be a cause of this problem. Use of certain medications can also cause a sensation of tingling in hands. Migraine can also lead to tingling in hands. Lack of blood supply to that area can cause tingling in that area. Bacterial infections in nerves can also be a reason for tingling in hands. Ulnar nerve entrapment that is compression of ulnar nerves. It can be treated by avoiding excess pressure on the elbow. Pernicious anemia is a condition of inadequate amount of red blood cells. This can cause various other symptoms like loss of breath, dizziness, headache, muscle weakness accompanied with hands and feet.
There can be around 50 reasons for hand tingling. This problem can be very annoying and is very common. It is usually not life threatening. It usually does not cause any pain too. If you experience tingling in hands accompanied with numbness and weakness in hands, then you should seek medical attention immediately. It can be a reason for some serious disease like stroke or heart attack so it is better to consult a doctor as soon as possible. Treatment will be given depending on the cause responsible for tingling in hands. Severe cases may require a surgery.
