What is Alfuzosin

Alfuzosin is a medication that is used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia which is also known as enlarged prostate. The prostate is a male reproductive organ that is located below the bladder. The growth period of prostate is during forty and fifty. In some cases the growth is restricted and it doesn’t cause any problem. However, an accelerated growth of prostate can lead to serious health risks. It will tight the muscles in the gland and get in the way of the tube that drains urine from the bladder. Enlarged prostate appear against the bladder and it make urinating difficult. The increased pressure can make it more thorny for urine to pass through the bladder to exit the body.

Other problems related with enlarged prostate are:-

Hesitation. Dribbling. Weak stream. Incomplete bladder emptying. Painful urination. Urinary frequency and urgency.

Alfuzosin works by for the time being tumbling the amount of pressure on the bladder. It relaxes the opening of bladder and prostate gland. This effect is temporaray and it allows the urine to easily pass through the body. This medication does not reduce the size of prostate physically.

Alfuzosin is taken orally in the form of tablet. The doctors usually recommend not to break, crush or chew this medication because by doing these things the effect of ingredient will be less. The tablet is taken along with food to prevent side-effects.

The side-effects of Alfuzosin are:-

Dizziness, fatigue. Abdominal pain, congestion, headache and decrease in the function of sex. Trouble in breathing. Facial or limb swelling. Chest pain, rash or loss of consciousness.

There are other medications whose interaction will prevent the Alfuzosin to work properly. The most common drug which is affected are erectile dysfunction or high blood pressure medication. Men who are suffering from liver disease may also experience complication while using Alfuzosin and it is generally not recommended to them.
