Normal blood pressure level is considered around or below 120/80 and above that or between 120/80 and 139/89 is called pre-hypertension and blood pressure of 140/90 or above is considered high . It is a silent killer as symptoms do not appear until person is totally effected. It causes direct damage to your arteries, heart and kidneys even when you were not even aware of it. High blood pressure or hypertension may lead to atherosclerosis and stroke.
The systolic blood pressure corresponds to the pressure in the arteries as the heart contracts and pumps blood forward into the arteries. The diastolic pressure represents the pressure inthe arteries as the heart relaxes after the contraction. The diastolic pressure exhibits the lowest pressure to which the arteries are exposed. The elevation of both these types of blood pressure increases the risk of increasing heart disease, kidney (renal) disease, eye damage, stroke and hardening of the arteries .That’s why so much care is taken to keep it under check and to avoid any further complications.

Hypertension is noticeably a major public health problem and medical association says that many cases are under diagnosed.
There are more than one reason to cause Hypertension these include alcohol problems, high salt intake, obesity and stress. If your daily routine lacking in exercise and you have low calcium intake this problem is highly likely to arise. This problem could be hereditary so beware of it as well. If you have hypertension, a change in lifestyle is quite essential. Dietary plans with particular emphasis on low-fat and low-saturated-fat food is recommended. Alcohol, caffeine and nicotine intake should be lessen. Medications such as a thiazide-type diuretic to lower blood pressure are quite effective.
It is considered scary because it rises quickly and there are no visible signs to notice it until it reaches its peak. Unlike mild Hypertension, severe cases can cause headaches, vomiting and make you feel nauseous. In most severe case of Hypertension, if not treated, it can damage brain, eyes and kidneys.
