What is Natural Gas

Natural gas is also called as a non-toxic, colorless, odorless and flammable gas. It is considered much lighter in weight as compared to air. It contains methane and other hydrocarbons like butane, ethane, helium, nitrogen, propane and naphtha.  Natural gas can be utilized for commercial and residential purpose both. In residences it is commonly used for cooking and heating, while in the industries it is used as a fuel or as converted electricity in gas power plants.

Due to its non-corrosive, non-toxic and non-carcinogenic features, it creates no threat to the soil, ground and surface water. Generally natural gas is extracted from varied kinds of gases like landfill gas, resources of bio-gas, synthetic gas, and coal gas.

Natural gas comprises of fossil remains obtained from animals and plants that are long ages deep buried within the surface of the earth. This gas is considered one of the safest gases formed out of colorless and odorless methane gas.

Natural gas also does not produce any smoke during its burning process. It also tends to burn hotter, cleaner and brighter as compared to many fossil fuels. It is also one amongst the reliable gases as it is usually installed underground and thus any stormy whether does not tend to harm its services.

Uses of Natural Gas :

Industrial use:
Natural gas can be used in refining of petroleum, chemical, paper, glass, metal, plastic and food processing industries. Generally the by-products of a natural gas are used as the main ingredients for plastic, fabric and fertilizer products. Natural gas is in high demand commercially as it is considered one of the efficient, cheap and cleanest of energy sources.

Residential use:
In general people require a particular energy source to heat water, cook food or generate electricity and keep the home warm in cold whether. Natural gas is more commonly used for hot furnaces and water tanks. It is also used in dryers, barbecues, stoves and other cooking appliances. This gas ensures an efficient, economical and safe operation of all the home appliances and is thus residentially in a good demand.

Commercial use:
Natural gas can be utilized in offices, hotels, commercial buildings, Schools, colleges etc. Natural gas plays the role of heating rooms, electricity generation, cooling or cooking food.

The natural gas is transported through a system of pipeline that assists in moving this gas in a quick and efficient manner from its origin to the place of its consumer demand. Technically every effort is made to transport cleaner natural gas through a wide pipeline network so as to deliver it to the place of its utilization.
