What is Risk Assessment
It’s an important step in the business to protect your workers and business conforming to the rules and regulations. In information technology sense it is also called as Risk Analysis. This refers to outlining and scrutinizing the dangers to individuals and company from expected and human hostile effects. This analysis can be measurable and qualitative. In measurable analysis an effort is made to statistically put the data in black and white. On the other hand in qualitative analysis it is only defining the threats.
The process is Risk Assessment is vulnerable to changes, since it is based on the available of methods at the time of assessing them. So the methods change as per time and space. It simple implies a cautious investigation of what could harm your employees and business. So that they can take enough precautions to prevent more harm. This means you cannot eliminate all risks; hence the business needs to take some controllable measures to protect the individuals and business process to run continuously.
How to assess risk? This is the next question. There are five steps to assess risks:
- Identification of threats: when people are working every day in an organization there is a possibility to oversee some threats. So there is a need to look around the place of work to check for possible threats. While assessing this concerned person can also to talk to the employees who work in that place to identify threats.
- Who can be harmed and how: this is a very important step. This does not mean that you have to identity each and every one; it refers to grouping of employees in different categories. For example machinery workers, cleaners, expectant mother’s, contractors etc.
- Estimation of risks and resolve safeguards: after knowing about the risks the next stage would be to decide what should be done. Try some precautions which were estimated like for employees working in chemical factories issue personal defensive things like glasses for eyes, footwear, proper clothing to protect from acid etc.
- Record the conclusion and implement them: the greatest challenge at this step is to put your risk assessment into practice. Writing the results of the risk assessment and discussing the same with your employees will give best results in taking precautions against them and putting them to use as well.
- Analyze and appraise the system from time to time: you cannot expect the work place to remain the same for years, so is the same with your employees. Definitely it makes sense to review and update new precautions so that there is no harm to business and employees.
