What Is Teflon
Teflon was invented in the year 1938 at DuPont’s Jackson laboratory. Teflon is primarily a waxy, opaque material used to apply coating on cooking utensils. Primarily, it is a useful material named polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Teflon also finds immense acceptance in industrial application as well.

Teflon-Apply to Pots and Pans
It is possible to apply Teflon to pots and pans. It is necessary to perform the application process in a multi-step process to ensure that the material sticks to the surface properly. Generally, three layers of application are provided including a layer of sticky molecule, application of layer to non-surface only and application of layer with a combination of non-stick Teflon along with other hardeners. Teflon Not Recommended at High Temperatures
As per a claim made by DuPont, Teflon slowly tends to deteriorate at a temperature above two hundred and sixty degree Centigrade. Hence, it is generally advisable not to use pans coated with Teflon at high temperature. It is never a judicious option to use Teflon coated pans to perform cooking activities such as broiling. Teflon coated non-stick pots are always a safe option as compared to stainless steel pans and pots. Teflon pans are preferable as they require less oil for cooking purpose and prevent food sticking to the pan as well. The above-mentioned aspect is a real advantage for individuals who are health conscious and are continuously on the look out to manage their weight.

It needs to be borne in mind that the manufacture of PTFE produces toxic byproducts as well. The common byproducts include carbon dioxide and hydrofluoric acid.
